ELSA PERETTI LEATHER BELT WITH IVORY BUCKLE

A rare Elsa Peretti for Halston leather belt from 1977, featuring a hand-carved ivory buckle. An example of this design is held in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/133106)

This early piece is unsigned, which is consistent with Peretti's ivory designs from the period. The original leather strap displays a beautiful patina and signs of age. The buckle has a few minor surface marks, and the original button closure is missing; the leather has been stitched to secure the buckle.
